Meet Cheri Reidy

When you operate a business in a small town, customers become more than customers. They are acquaintances and friends, and that is a part of Terrace living that acupuncturist Cheri Reidy enjoys. "It is easy to network and know people from all walks of life, where we know one another as neighbours," says Cheri. Knowing her clients on a more personal level makes providing health care services more meaningful. "It is an opportunity to make a difference in my community," Cheri adds.

The close-knit community is just one of the things that Cheri appreciates about life in Terrace. She is also grateful to live in a place that is immersed in nature. The proximity to incredible pristine wilderness and the opportunity to enjoy the spacious silence surrounding Terrace is something that Cheri does not take for granted.

Cheri's foray into traditional Chinese medicine began decades ago, but it wasn't until her children were grown that she was able to pursue formal study at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Vancouver. She also pursued National Acupuncture Detoxification training at the East Vancouver Detox Centre for Withdrawal Management. She proudly opened her own clinic in Terrace in 2010. She is passionate about the discipline and the various treatments that offer a non-drug and surgery alternative to alleviating pain. "I love the broad applicability acupuncture has to offer many health problems," Cheri states. "I am proud to be offering a branch of medicine that has existed for thousands of years because it is effective. The results that patients get from acupuncture gives me a real sense of satisfaction." Having her own business has a number of benefits. She deeply appreciates the autonomy that it gives her, as well as the flexibility she has over her work schedule and the ability to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
