Meet John Mendes & Elizabeth Pereira
John Mendes and his late wife Stella Mendes started The Star Men's and Ladies Apparel in Terrace in September of 1979 as a legacy for their daughters. Later, in July of 1987, they opened a second location under the name Elizabeth Fashions, after their daughter. This location is still open today and is now managed by their daughter, Elizabeth Pereira.
Playing a role in someone's special occasion is something that Elizabeth doesn't take lightly. A day that needs to be perfect often starts with the perfect dress, and this is something that Elizabeth is proud to be providing to the shop's clientele. Elizabeth is deeply grateful to the many faithful customers who have helped make the business successful since it first opened. For Elizabeth, operating an independent small business allows her to put her own ideas and creativity to work. Access to formal wear was a needed service in Terrace, and Elizabeth is proud to be able to fill that need and to help make people's events special and memorable.
Elizabeth appreciates that Terrace is such a friendly town and enjoys living and doing business in such a close-knit community. "You know and recognize people," says Elizabeth, and even those you may not know are always quick with a wave and a friendly "hello."
