Meet The Board, Staff & Volunteers
The CoRE Store is a unique social enterprise established by TDCSS, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing issues like poverty, homelessness and health care. It was created in partnership with the City of Terrace, who helped the group identify a need for a local provider of affordable housewares items and building materials. The CoRE Store’s daily operations are overseen by a dedicated group of volunteers from within the community. According to volunteer Jeannette Anderson, those volunteers are the heart and soul of the enterprise. “Our staff invest in the community above and beyond their duties and jobs,” says Jeannette.
One of the most exciting and fulfilling aspects of serving a small community like Terrace is that volunteers are actually able to witness firsthand the impact of the work that they are involved in. Every person makes a big difference, whatever their role, and “projects and efforts are rewarded by actually seeing the outcome,” Jeannette states.
The business, as well as the efforts of the TDCSS, have been well-received and enthusiastically-supported by the people of Terrace. Jeannette believes it is a testament to their compassion as well as to their commitment to support local independent businesses. The atmosphere that this attitude creates lends itself to a bright future for small business in Terrace to thrive and grow.
Repurposed. Recycled. Socially-Conscious.
CoRE Store is a social enterprise which provides quality previously-owned housewares as well as building materials (doors, bathroom counters, sinks, cabinets, flooring) at affordable prices. It is a unique-concept thrift store focusing entirely on products for the home. Shoppers will find a diverse selection of items inside, including a variety of furniture, appliances and electronics as well as building supplies and home renovation products.
CoRE Store is operated by TDCSS, a non-profit organization offering social and health care programs throughout northwest BC. CoRE Store was established with a dual-purpose: to help provide funding for TDCSS’ homelessness outreach Living Room project, which includes a free soup kitchen, and to help keep used household items and building materials from ending up in the landfill. CoRE Store is proud to give quality previously-owned housewares and building materials a second life. CoRE Store accepts donations from the public of building materials and household items in good shape and in working order. The CoRE Store is operated entirely by volunteers from within the Terrace community.
CoRE Store is a member of the Terrace of Commerce and the Terrace Downtown Improvement Area.
