Baker Extraordinaire
Baker Extraordinaire specializes in whole grain bread with more than ten different varieties to choose from. What makes each loaf extraordinary is that it is produced without fat, sugar, dairy or preservatives of any kind. Each whole grain loaf incorporates Certified Organic Canadian Prairie grain, that is milled right on location just prior to baking, ensuring peak flavour, freshness and nutritional value. Baker Extraordinaire also produces a wide variety of fruit and cream pies, cookies, muffins, scones and pancake mix. Fresh or frozen fruit is always used in baking and is purchased locally whenever available. Some even come from the bakery’s own River Mist Farm.

Meet Charles & Ann Claus
When Charles Claus first met his future wife, Ann, he knew he'd found a prize. When he discovered how incredible her pies were, he was even more elated. In fact, Ann, who has always loved cooking and baking, got compliments about her cooking all the time, especially the fresh whole grain breads she would always bake for her family. "These are good enough to sell!" people would tell her, so eventually Charles and Ann decided they would do just that. They have operated Baker Extraordinaire for 19 years in various locations throughout BC. They moved the business to Terrace, Charles' hometown, in 2010 where they received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the community and support that continues to today.
Ann does all of the bread-baking in the business, and she is passionate about the quality and consistency of the products. Everything that leaves the store has been lovingly crafted and has passed her careful inspection. She has passed that same passion and enthusiasm on to her staff, who take a great deal of pride in what they bake and serve as well as the customer service that they provide. Charles and Ann are grateful to their staff for their commitment and the care that they show in the work they do.
While Ann bakes and runs the shop, Charles can often be found out working on the couple's five-acre farm. Here they grow apples and berries which they use in the bakery's pies and other baked goods. They also grow vegetables which they sell at the Skeena Valley Farmers Market during the summer. When they aren't working the bakery or the farm, the couple enjoys spending time visiting with their kids and grandkids, traveling and entertaining friends.
